Can someone tell me where to find the low side service port. I found a port labeled "EVAP service port" with a green cap, up near the firewall, but it's male threaded, and I think the port I'm looking for should have a quick connection… correct?

If this is for recharging the A/C system, I do believe what you're looking for sits right on top of the A/C compressor under a black plastic cap. That's the port I used to rechage my '99 5.9L. Hope this helps!

Mid engine compartment, battery side, up on top (not down near the valve covers, etc. Face the engine, lean into it over the bumper, stick your right arm out and there at the tip of your fingers is the low side you're looking for. It'll have a cap on it.

If you have a can of coolant you're looking to add, it only goes on one way and only in that one place. The slide collar on the can needs to be placed on the connector quickly to eliminate coolant leaking out around the connection during your fill up.

It's real easy. I recommend a gauge so you can monitor the amount added. At 6 years now, I just added my first coolant to the AC. 1 and 2.3rd of a can to take the meter on the gauge all the way up to max, but not overfilled. The gauges are about $20 at Autozone.

I'll post a picture for you later today.

Thanks a lot for the response - I see a cap on a port on the right side up near the top of the engine, but it's male threads as well… Maybe I'm missing something

If your air works at all, the low side is the aluminum pipe that gets cold. The high side gets hot. Or, if that don't work, the low side is the larger of the two, and IIRC, the service port is the smaller than the one on the high side.

You guys are so fortunate…Up here it's illegal to service your own air conditioning system. I think we're the only state in the country that this is so. We can't buy R134A in the little cans at the store like you can anywhere else. So, I just take a drive to Rockford, IL and buy a bunch at the Wal-Mart down there and bootleg it back! When I have to go to Janesville, WI for a convention, I'm less than an hour away, so I make the "Freon run" then. Last time they looked at me a little funny when I brought 3 cases of the stuff up to the counter. $287 worth! Pay cash, ask no questions.

Yep, Big Al has got it right Smile That should be the quick connect hookup for you to refill the A/C.

Might want to check on a previous post I made
http://durangoclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=18861&highlight=#18861
on servicing the A/C since I covered both the high and low pressure ports, what they're for and you you measure quantity of freon and pressure - the high and low pressure.
Also don't forget to add oil either separately or buy a can of refrigerant with lubricating oil.
