Sorry I've been outta the loop for a while but my tour here at Camp Ramadi, Iraq, is finally drawing to a close. While I can't say it's been fun, it has been interesting and I've learned a few things while I've been here… unfortunately more negative than positive but then again, negatives can be turned into positives with the right state of mind and thinking.
I was home in Dec for my 2 week midtour leave and my oldest daughter (the one who's been battling osteosarcoma for the last 7 yrs), my son (who's with the DE Army National Guard and deploying to Afghanistan next year), and his girlfriend all came to Colorado from Delaware. Also my brother (who's serving in the Naval Reserve out of Buckley AFB, CO) was home for 2 weeks from Camp Shelby, MS before shipping out to Afghanistan. It was a great time for all of us!!
I hope the holidays were good to all of you and I'm hoping to get back into things with my D when I get back home. First thing on the agenda is replacing the heater core that's needed to be replaced for about a year or so. Not sure if I'm gonna tackle it myself or take it to the local Dodge dealer?? I also need to get another vehicle because a neighbor needed a car and, since the Shadow was just sitting there, we sold it to them. I'm planning on sticking with a Mopar product but need to get an automatic so the wife can drive it when I have to take the D. If anyone's within a couple hours drive of Keenesburg, CO and has a vehicle for sale for a low price, please gimme a holler. Thanx!
well, I guess that's all for now.
Namaste' and blessed be to all!!

Welcome Home and THANK YOU!
Hope the heater core is painless. Good luck with the search for a second ride.

Another DOC member named Dan who owns a Durango! We should start a mini club of our own.
I can't imagine the sacrifice you've made for all of us back home. Thank you for your protection and dedicated duty all these years. It's about time you came home, you deserve it!
And what's with all these heater cores?? Every time I turn around another DOC member is replacing their heater core. It's getting me a little nervous that I may be next!! I don't need any mod-fund-interruptions before Carlisle!

Thank y'all for your kind words. I'll be back in the states in about 1-2 months. Hopefully, things will be conducive for a heater core R&R as well as finding a 2nd vehicle.
I know quite a few people who are relieved that I'm not extending over here, even tho I wanted to. I guess things will work out for the best. I'll be either re-enlisting just before we leave here or retiring after I get home (I passed 20 yrs back in Sep 09.) I haven't decided yet which direction I'm gonna go.
Namaste' and blessed be to everyone!!

Dan,
Having not heard from you in a while, I had an idea you had shipped out again. Thank you for what you do everyday. Thank your guys for us too! You all never get enough thanks for the sacrifices you make.
If you can take the retirement $$$ and then double dip by getting another job in the States, that's always a good game plan. Good luck!
Next time you're through Indianapolis again, you know dinner is on me.
Pals,
Rob / IndyDurango

That'll carry you far in any walk of life.
My dad was an AF wrench-turner on Okinawa circa 1950. He's responsible for the "understand it, do it, and do it right" attitude that I and my brothers have, though automotive technology has kind of left him in the dust (and hey, at 79 years old, that's OK)
