No! It's illeagal to release the refrigerant to the atmosphere. Failure to comply with the EPA regulations means you can be fined $25,000.00 per occurance. Anyone that wants to make a quick buck can turn you in for a nice reward from the EPA as well. Take your D to a shop that is licensed to recover the refrigerant and then have them evacuate the system properly prior to recharging the system.
