I agree with Steve. I think your issue isn't the engine temp (if you've got a 180 stat in and temp is where it should be, you've done just about all you can in that area). A 160 stat is too low.
I think it's more a question of ambient temperature, and it's not surprising to see power decline with rising air temps. A cold air intake may help, but I'm not sure it's going to be that effective in NYC traffic. Repositioning the IAT, making the engine think it's seeing lower temps than actual may help.Joe
