Sounds like a vacuum leak. Backyard mechanic test is to spray starting fluid at specific points and listen to see if the rpm's increase or decrease. Might not be so easy with that open intake. Try spots far away from the intake. There should be a vacuum hose diagram on the underside of your hood on the pass side. If you hear a change, you should be able to zero in on the leak.
