99 has the lever. Yes it can be done. If you wan to do it bad enough, there is a guy out on Long Island NY. There is a guy here who had his full time case changed to part time for the 2 wd option Where are you located?

Why do you believe FT will do better than PT? The part time option will give you more traction than FT. If you are believing that the FT shifts power to for better traction, that's not the way the Chrysler system works. The system has a fixed torque between the fron and rear axles. Go to Jeep.com and it is the same as the SELECT-TRAC system. Jeep.com has animations on how the 4x4 systems work.
