I don't have a manual for an 01 and it was not an option for the 98 so it is not in mine but this has been discussed before. Try searching the archives if no one chimes in. The blinking does tell you something but I can't remember exactly what. If high is blinking it means one thing, if low another. One means the heater element is open, etc. Sorry I could not help further.
