It sounds like the transfer case is not engaging or you aren't putting it in 4wd. I have a '99 PT 4wd and it is amazing what it will pull. I tow a trailer full of stones (3600#) with no problem on my gravel driveway and in my yard, but I shift to 4 wheel hi for the slippery spots. I have also dragged an 800# rock with it as well as multiple 10' logs with no problems.
