Do you have lever-shift t-case? or electric shift? (can't remember if electric was even available in that year.. I kinda doubt)

If you have manual, yes it's as "simple" as swapping the t-case to another lever-shift full-time case. The computer doesn't care... 4wd lights on the dash might be a bit confused - but wont interfere with operation.

But my question is what problem are you actually having? Part-time 4wd should get better traction that fulltime since the front and rear driveshafts are turning at the same rate... Perhaps you can explain your problem a bit more...
