Also don't rule out other seals - in our DAK, it was the rear main. An old "mopar guy" in our neighborhood heard me talking about it and in his words "yup, those 318's were infamous for leaking seals." Bythe way, the first time ours went was at 12K - apparently it's easy to install the gasekt wrong and have it crimp up.
And, as for the hesitation, we did ahve that happen on our DAK when an O2 sensor went bad. It's a cheap fix too.
