My guess Dave is that it was gasoline related. Try dumping in some octane booster.

With the price of gas in CA at $2.50 a gallon for premium (that awful 91 octane oygenated stuff) I decided to switch grades. Even though my R/T requires premium, I figured that 87 octane with some booster would even things out. So I decided to fill up with 87 octane and then drive to the hardware store to buy the fixins to make booster. On the way to the hardware store the engine knocked like a bucket of marbles. I couldn't mix that stuff up fast enough. I dumped in about 12oz and after it mixed up most of the knock went away. I dumped in 4 more ounces and hope that does the trick. I'll see how it runs on 87 with booster. If it does okay, I'll keep it up for now. I've mixed up enough for about 8-10 tankfulls.
