I have been tracking this issue for two years on my 2001 5.9. I have replaced my TPS and cleaned my throttle body. The throttle body cleaning helped best. I took my issue to the maintenance managers at three local DCX dealerships and the best response is: this is inherent to the Dodge PCM programming. Even with constant pedal pressure and speed, changes in engine/wheel speed due to excessive drag (wind), air conditioning, uphill, or periodic pavement crack can cause the D's high gear lock-up torque converter to disengage - slightly, then re-engage. Taking the D out of overdrive just drops you down a gear and gets poor mileage at high speeds.
