46re in limp home mode

My tranny will not go out of 1 gear. I towed a 5000 lb trailer from Seattle to Oklahoma city. I dropped the trailer and let the D sit for a couple of days. I went to a BBQ and after driving on the HI-way at 60 mph and 1900 rpm, exited on the off ramp and drove for a couple of blocks and after coming to a stop sign The D would not go shift from 1st to 2nd. Went to Cottmans trans. and they said they needed to pull it to diag. the prob after seeing cont. in the fluid. I had fluid changed before the drive south along with installing a 28000 cooler. Any exper. or info would be helpfull before i pull it and take it to be checked. Thanks.. P.s. there were no codes that came up either with my scanner or the shops. Can any one recomend a book on rebuilding the 46re?
