Re: window motor

I just did the left front on my 98 a couple weeks ago. Don't know how the trim or works might differ in a 99. I took a look at my rear door and can tell you how it would go. With door open, Remove two screws that are at the bottom of the door trim panel. Remove one screw in the vacinity of the arm rest. Pull the release like you were going to open the door, there might be a screw behind there too that needs to be removed. Pull up on the door trim panel. Once it's loose at the top you may have to reach behind and release a clip that holds the linkage to the handle. Unplug the window and door lock wires. You should now be able to set the trim panel aside. You may have to remove the separate black trim panel that runs up the back side of the door along the window to get the door trim panel off too. It's supposed to just pull off, pulling it straight away from the door towards the interior. Pull enough of that plastic water barrier out of the way so you can get at the bolts holding the regulator in. The regulator and motor came as one unit on mine, which turned out to be a good deal. It was the easiest one I've ever done, and I've done a few. On the front door there were 3 or four cap screws holding the motor to the door, two up high, and two down low holding the channel in place. Two cap screws hold the glass to the regulator. On the front door the best access to those was with the window down. You might want to throw a couple pieces of wood or something in there to keep the glass from falling to the bottom of the door. I did, but didn't really need to. The glass pretty much stayed where I put it. You can now pull the motor/regulator assembly out through a hole in the door. The replacement regulator for mine required some drilling of new holes for the motor for some reason. No problem, it came with a real good template. I think I paid $120 for the part, got a price of $150 at a different dealership so call around if you have more than one option. Reverse the process to get it back together. Remember not to leave the wood blocks in the door if you use them. Not a hard job. Hope that helps. Good luck!
