Hmm, guys thanks for the replies, but don't think any of those are it. I'm familiar with the sound of brake wear bars, ditto for the serpentine belt or even the normal "american car at full lock" steering noise. This really isn't like any of those, it's almost a rubber-on-rubber sound...
