Some things are best kept from little ones, although I started hunting with my dad when I was 7 or 8, so did both my children with me and every male in our family's history, just depends on what people do. Deer and elk are field dressed at the kill site, elk are also skinned at that time. At camp, our meat pole is hidden from view of anyone driving past on any nearby dusty road, mainly to provide security, the poacher types will steal if given the chance. Depending on the weather, we may leave game hanging for a day or two or haul it to the butcher right after skinning(deer) and final cleaning of the meat, removing hairs and forest debris(leaves, twigs and needles). Hope this satisfies your curiosity. Happy New Year, timhttp://www.nrahq.org/hunting/hunterimage.asp
