I was fortunate enough to spend 3 of the 4 days of this long holiday weekend out on the hiking trails around Phoenix. Yesterday afternoon I was hiking along Trail 100 near North Mountain, lost in my thoughts, when I heard a noise just ahead. Stopped just in time to watch a roadrunner cross the trail just a few feet in front of me. He didn't seem to notice me, either, until he reached the other side of the trail where he just stopped and looked at me for a few minutes, giving me time to get my camera out of the bag. By the time I got it focused on him, he had already headed off to the side of the trail where he found some sort of yummy bugs to munch on. ((Guess maybe he figured he was safe, since Thanksgiving had already come and gone. ;)LOL))
