As far as the mileage is concerned, they could have probably given it the RAM hood. With the RAM 1500, we get between 12.5-13.5 in everyday driving and have gotten as high as 15.5 pure highway - that was with A/C on and cruise set at about 75 mph. So if we drove real conservatively we could probably get a couple more mpg out of it and be equal to what we get in our smaller D with the 5.9.

The press releases did say that the design of the 5.7 and its lighter weight would yield about a 15% increase in fuel economy compared to the 5.9.
