I also put new Sensatracs on my wife's blazer this weekend. In my opinion, the Monroe's would probably be most people's choice for a "true" ride. A noticeable upgrade from the factory ride, but definitely not stiff. They give more of a "new car" ride. I don't know that I would call the Ranchos a stiff ride either. I'd equate a stiff ride to a sportscar suspension, where you hit a bump and you think the dash might fall in your lap. I'd say the Ranchos are firm. When I'd go over a bump on the old shocks, you'd feel the initial bump, then a secondary roll, followed by a slight sway. The Ranchos get rid of the secondary roll and sway. You only feel the bump once and it's much less noticeable. It's sort of hard to explain until you feel it.
Possibly equal in difference of ride improvement is the improvement in steering response. The play in the steering wheel and roll when beginning a turn is all but gone.
