Pinion Bearings twice in 6 months

My pinion bearings started making some noise again on my 98 D. Took it back to Central 4wd and they diagnosed it as failing pinions bearings. Wow where have I heard that before. They replaced them again almost 6 months to the date from the first time they replaced them.

I got the old bearings and am tempted to call Timken and ask then for my money back. the faces of some of the rollers appear to have flaked off, depositing themselves in to the race. I wonder if the mechanic could have setup the pinion wrong when he did it, or if these bearings are just bad.

Any opinions on possibly getting a bad setup versus getting a bad bearing?

Thanks,
Rod
