That being said, how many miles are on the D? Since you mention the list price, are you the original owner? If not, have an alignment done and determine if your joints are good. If they are, invest $15 in a grease gun, tube of grease and you will find many here (including myself) who can teach how to keep the D properly lubed.

I have found with my MOOG ball joints I my perform regular preventative maintenance on them by performing a "lube job" every 3 - 6 thousand. Figure this is a good old American truck and there will be a few things I am willing to tolerate - just my $.02 though.
