A good compression guage is necessary. I never had much luck with the kind that you just press into the spark plug hole. The screw in type is much better, unfortunately also costlier. Clean the spark plug recesses. Remove the spark plugs (all 8). Lock the throttle wide open. Disable the fuel system, pull the fuel pump fuse. Disconnect the ignition coils. insert the compression guage and then crank the engine three revolutions( you will see the pulses of pressure on the guage face). Record the compression pressure on the third revolution. Do all eight cylinders. Put everything back together.Also the recommendation about checking the bottom end is very accurate. I think after my experience lately with warranty companies, I would recommend the Chrysler warranty over any other type. Good luck.
