grease for a clunk

So I took in the good ol 99D 2wd for a distinct clunk, metal on metal sometimes a loud pop sound, happens at full left or right turns. I was certain it was ball joints. After inspection the dodge dealer tells me that when I make a full left or right turn the wheel stop is rubbing the frame and there is nothing wrong. His solution was to put on some heavy red grease. It did stop for a bit but now is back since the grease was worn through.

I find it hard to believe that this is the full solution for a vechile that had a sticker price of $34k brand new.

I am getting more and more disappointed with the Durango every day.

Any suggestions on the clunk, pop and bang?
