Can't speak to the previous RAM's but the redesign in 02 makes for a very comfortable ride. The Quad Cab seats 4 in great comfort and 5 okay. If you need it, the middle of the front seat is okay although I wouldn't want to ride there for long trips.

The suspension is a truck suspension so it will bounce you abit on rough roads but the handling is excellent. We took a trip in June on some mountain roads in Tennessee which come close to some of those in the Black Forest and the Mosel region and it took the turns and switchbacks very nicely.

The drawback is that the truck is BIG compared to the current Durango which makes parking it a bit of a challenge. In addition, the narrow side streets in places like Bitburg could be tough to navigate.
