I don't think rain is going to play much of an issue. I'm running a water injection system. This sprays a fine mist of 50/50 water/alcohol into the incoming air stream @ 3000rpm. The nozzle is directly over the TB so by the time it reaches the internal part of the engine it's evaporated. Thus I think any rain droplets that manage to sneak through would react the same way.
Additionally the front lip of the air box has a slight gap between it and the edge of the scoop so water can escape. It was intentionally designed that way.
