Oil Change on 4.7L?

This is probably an obvious question, but when changing the oil on a 2k D, 4.7L with a factory skid plate, must the skid plate be removed (4 screws) in order to drain the oil? I noticed that there is a place to remove the oil filter, but unless I am overlooking something I dont see how you would drain the oil without removing the skid plate?TIA,
