Here's the scoop. when I went on E-bay there were two people advertising Shakers for da D.
One had a "buy it now" for $580 or something and the other started the bid at 300 and I picked it up for 325 + 50 bucks shipping (had to tell him NOT UPS as they wanted 140 dollars to Hawaii). Priority Mail came to 48 dollars and arrived in 3 business days.
As to the install, I confirm that if the bonding agent to the collar does not ooze (and I suggested using extra two sided masking tape to outline the exterior shape of the collar to prevent it and thus be able to coat about 1 inch of the stuff from inner ring outward), it would come to 200 bucks. Labor and materials. If the hood had to be re-sprayed due to oozing of the bonding agent it would be an extra 275 dollars.
A word on this bonding agent. It sets EXTREMELY fast - for Hawaii climate it is rated as "welded" in less than 1 minute. So you thus have VERY little time to apply it, clamp it and then it sets. It is heat resistant to 475 degrees. To remove it, you would have to heat beyond that. I mention this as traditional epoxies and fillers tend to crack under vibrations or heat. As the heat within the negine compartment seldom goes above 240 degrees and the stuff is impervious to vibrations it will neither separate, crack NOR allow any leaks. The stuff costs 40 bucks a tube.
So going with the first option as neither of us believes it will need to be repainted, it will come to $575 covering labor, materials, shipping and cost of unit. This to Hawaii; obviously a lot less for you on the mainland.
I have no idea as to whether he has anymore. His e-mail address is:
and his name is Gary Hammer. He lives in Ohio and the item number was:
2428195083
He goes by the E-bay userid redsonja30
Hope that helps. If you need further info please let me know. Aloha,
