I have the same D and I take a piece of cardboard about 5" x 30" or so. Fold it in half the long way and stick one end up under the oil filter. The other end will hang out the hole to your drain pan. Just hold while you unscrew the filter. The oil will drain right out with no mess. It works perfect.
