The new 2004 Durango is considerably larger than current Durango's. Also, they have a new 5. 7 HEMI V8 with 330 HP which should give it the best towing capability in its class (Suburban, Tahoe, Expedition etc. )... so if you can wait a few weeks and get the full specifications on the 2004 (Mid September/Late September delivery to dealers in US)

An alternative, if your towing weight is over 8,000 lbs, is to look at the Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel. This is a sleevable engine so you can expect many hundreds of thousands of miles of use out it as opposed to a Ford or GM Diesel. The new diesel is much quieter from 2003 but is one monster engine for pulling. Much less expensive that MB Diesel!

Good luck on your decision. As for me, I'll stick with the Durango... over 65,000 miles with flawless operation! I am sold on this truck!
