Thanks for the overview G. I understand there are advantages to aluminum. Sounds great, but I'm concerned about the durablity of it. Like you said, it expands at a different rate, probably buy a different amount too, than cast iron. That's got to be hard on gaskets between the two I would think. I still remember the days of the chev Vega. I knew a couple kids that had those when they were new. As I remember you had a good one if you got 30k miles out of a head. I'd prefer my engine to be more durable so one little mistake doesn't result in the destruction of the engine. Maybe they have that figured out with the 4.7. I hope so. Time will tell. If I were in the market for a new Durango this year, I wouldn't buy one with that engine in it even if it met my horsepower requirements and got better gas mileage. I'll let someone else do the field testing. I don't even like the fact that mine has an aluminum intake. For five years now I've made sure to warm the engine up slowly and carefully just because of that. I'd much rather know that it's bullet proof so I wouldn't have to worry about it.
