Help with Code

Hope someone can help. I have a 01 RT with 27K Miles and the check engine light came on this morning. I got the code from the Odometer and it was P0601. I looked it up and it says " Internal Control Module memory Check sum error". Can anyone explain to me what the means. The light came on after I filled it up and I understand that sometimes the light comes on due to the fact that the cap was not put on correct. I took the gas cap off and redid it, but 75 miles later the light is still on. Any help would be nice.
