Tire Rubbing noise update, even more perplexing

So I took my D to my favorite tireshop/mechanic. They said that the tires are not meant for the rims I have on there (the tires and rims came right off an R/T, 275/60/17 Goodyears on 17x9 R/T rims). They are saying that the edges are wearing out and the middle isn't even hitting the ground. He suggested I change the tires to 285/65/17 to balance out.

Anyhow, as for the rubbing, they suggest a 1" lift to the front. I told them I'd think about that, but then as I re-evaluate my car, it sounds more and more like I was mistaken and it sounds like the rubbing is coming from the rear. So now another mechanic friend of mine suggests that it's the limited slip in the rear gaining traction on turns.

I have no idea what to even think anymore. I just want this stupid rubbing noise to go away and nobody on earth can give me a straight answer other than "change back to factory specs." One day I'd like to go with 20" rims, does that mean I am screwed?
