Tire wear patterns with bad ball joints

Both of my front tires are wearing considerably more on the inside than on the outside. Is this a symptom of worn ball joints? I don't seem to have the knocking sound some notice when their ball joints need replacing.

If/When I need to replace then can I use an angle grinder on the rivets for the top ball joint?
