Light pinging sometimes is hard to discern. When it really does it, it is easy to hear as far as noise level and it will sound like marbles in a metal can. The most likely times are at full throttle, heavy loads i.e. up hill and high RPMs. Unless your motor is really bad and it is pinging all the time.
