I don't know how advanced that "oil diagnosis" technology really is..

I know GM has been doing this for a while, but I think that system is not very brilliant.. IIRC it is just based on driving cycle and doesn't even look at the oil..

it may well be that the Audi et al systems are based on driving cycle as well.. and maybe that's OK.. but given the pain toyota/lexus has felt over the past few years with "oil gelling", it seems a slippery slope..

from the corporate side companies may be willing to live with the warranty costs, OTOH Audi has never been a company that has been known for their compassion for the customer with an issue..

so, while I'd *really* like to reduce the amount of waste oil that has to be reprocessed/recycled/dumped, I think it has to go beyond marketing..
