Here is some FAQs on HID.  I was going to buy a set of HIDs for my Si, but decided a midwinter getaway for some snowboarding was needed more. :)

One thing to remember about HID kits is that u must have quality ballast as well as bulbs.  If I were to purchase a kit, I would make sure that it included Philips or Hella ballast.  Also, the higher color tempertature, the more purple they are.
