Bouncy tachometer with cruise control? TPS?

Hello everyone! I'm currently visiting family in Idaho and during the trip noticed an odd occurence with the cruise control. Whilst cruzing along at about 75mph, the tach is at 2000RPM. It will occasionally bounce up to 2200RPM and quickly return to 2000. This only occures when using Cruise Control. I have vague memories of this problem being reported here on the Forum, and that it was caused by a bad TPS - Throttle Position Sensor. Can anyone confirm this? I can get at TPS for $65, but would like to be more confident that it is the correct solution befor I blow the $$. THANKS!
