Maristella's - on 55th, I think. Authentic italian, with authentic italian staff - NOT in Little Italy, but more worthwhile for it. $$ - expect to pay $50+ for two people.
Ignore the Carnegie Deli, and hit the Stage Deli instead. The food is better, the staff less rude, and if you can eat an entire sandwich you won't be hungry for days. Best Corned Beef on the PLANET.
Jekyll & Hyde Club - NOT the one near Greenwich Village, but the one on 6th, at 57th, I think. OMG. The Ribs! With Mongolian Barbecue Sauce! Theya re to absolutely DIE for.
If you are there for a week? Park the D. Get a $17 metro pass, and use it religiously. It covers 7 days of bus & subway, and is well worth it. Speaking of which, the Transportation Museum in Brooklyn is very much worth your time, if you have it. It's housed in an old subway station, and has the complete history of public transportation, NYC style for you to review.
Hamburger Harrys, on 41st (I think) is good, but it's a pricey burger.
Now - In February? Dress warm. Very WARM. Layers, even! Hard to tell what you will get weather-wise, but be prepared for arctic-like winds coming through those concrete canyons.
The American Museum of Natural History is great - but that is worth 3 days of dedicated exploration in itself. Take a tour - Gray Line, Circle Line, whatever, make lots of notes to yourself, and then plan a vacation BACK so that you can see it all. There is simply no way to see the city that is Manhattan in the amount of time you will have available.
