On the transmission...

there is a filter, but I don't think there is a screen. Mopar 7176 ("atf+3") is a fine fluid for that transmission, but several people here run redline or other high-end brands. You do want to be careful that the fluid you choose is *explicitly* stated to meet the 7176 standard. Don't count on an add-in "additive package" for this job.

Rumor has it that DC was issuing a synthetic filter for a while, but it had problems .. upshot is that the paper filter is better.

You should adjust the bands while you're in there; it's pretty easy to do. The adjustment varies slightly depending on which transmission you have (the 5.2 and 5.9 use the 44RE and 46RE transmissions respectively)..

a DC factory service manual (FSM) is invaluable if you are going to do anything really interesting (e.g. stereo mods)..
