My 2000 D hums in the rain. I think it is water gathering in the channels of the roof rack, kinda like blowing across a bottle to make it whistle. My father-in-law once got a speeding ticket on a local street while he was demonstrating to a friend how his car whistled at a certain speed. It was his add-on roof rack.
