oil leak

I have a 99 D 5.2V8 PT4WD with 40K miles,and just noticed some oil stains in my driveway.It looks like a rear seal leak.Has anybody out there had a similar problem? Of course the warranty expired 4K miles ago, but do I have any recourse against Chrysler? It seems to me that it's awfully early for something like this to happen.
Love this forum very much, and learned a lot from it.Thanks in advance for any help.
