My 2002 D has steel skid plates.  I am not sure if the skids on the 2002 will fit earlier D's, but the dealer should be able to tell you.  

Plastic skid plates!! Geez, what was Dodge thinking.  Let us hope that Dodge learned their lesson with this debacle and we don't have plastic axles and plastic frames on SUV's in the future.
