Your thinking is right on the money David! The 9000's are completely adjustable from that no-shock feeling to a feeling of a slammed mini truck, and everything in between! I've had mine on for about a year now and normally leave it on #2 all around, but when I'm offroad I set it up to #4 so I have less bottoming out on the trails. I've also towed a 19 foot boat once, and by stiffening just the rear, you can balance the D out quite nicely!
A bit of advice, don't purchase the interior adjuster. The air compressor is known to break quite often, My boss had to change his compressor twice before removing the whole thing. If the compressor goes out on you while driving, you're stuck with the #1 setting all around, and that could be very dangerous when towing. It's really not hard to change the settings by hand, just keep a towel to kneel on for the backs and throw over your tires for the front so you don't get dirty!
Let us know how you like them!
