most guarage door openers clip too the visor... does your woirk from there?.. or do you like have to hold it out the window?... if it works from the visor.. it should work from the compartment... theres no RF shielding in the compartment,.. just plastic... are you sure the button is contacted correctly and getting fully depressed? mine is a sears craftsman opener, and i keep mine clipped to the visor, (call me lazy, never bothered to install it in the compartment) but have great range, my driveway is 1/2 a mile long and have opend the door on the way up... from 100 yards or more away, try resetting the code maybe?
