I own three cars; 97 Dodge Neon Highline Sport, 2001 Durango R/T, and 1973 Ford Mustang Mach I.
The Neon has no ABS, and I prefer it that way, because it's lighter, nimbler, and the brakes are MUCH easier to modulate.
The Durango has 4wABS and I prefer it that way, because it's REAL heavy, it is NOT balanced when empty, it is NOT nimble (when compared to the Neon, compared to other "large" SUV's I've driven it feels quite nimble indeed). I like being able to "mash and steer" in that beast.
The Mustang? No ABS, and I prefer it that way, because it's more fun. :)
But, the fact is I drive in SoCal. The roadways here are almost always congested, even when traffic is moving at the speed limit. And, almost every road has lost it's shoulders to make more lanes. So the question of, "where would I go even when I can steer" begs to be answered.
I don't have an answer to that question, but having control leaves my options open.
