First of all, what do you mean by a "rough idle"? Will the engine fluctuate in rpm? The 5.2 and 5.9L engines are known to idle a bit rough, especially after starting them from cold. This is due because of the camshaft setup. AS a matter of fact, I love the rough "gurgle" and roughness that the engine does. It tells me the great V-8 I have under my hood. But that idle shouldnt be too rough. If the engine also runs rough, and the RPM flutter, you could have a bad TPS(throttle postion sensor). Also, if the check engine light isnt on, dont worry, unless you feel loss of power or extreme roughness etc. When I changed the cap and rotor, plugs and wires in my D to the Borg Warner Select cap and rotor, and the Autolite 3923's and JBA 9mm wires, I noticed better revving, and a bit increase in response when nailing the throttle.
The little green cap is a cover for the purge solenoid, if we are talking about the same thing.
Hope this helps!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
