I use the 9-inch on my truck.  I wanted the extra filter surface area for those off-road trips.  I Also carry a spare with me just in case.  I had to use the spare at DRMR last summer after I clogged the first one up.

As for the difference between IP and Quick D, that is just personal preference.  I honestly do not think there is much difference functionally in the way the two systems operate.

The IP intake is ceramic coated to help keep the heat out of the incoming air.  I believe Quick D's intake is stainless steel.  Other than that, there is not much difference.
