If you're looking for more power, you'll want the 1.7s The 1.6s will simply match the stock ratio and while the reduced friction might offer some very slight improvement(perhaps noticeable smoother idle) the "bang for the buck" of going to 1.6s doesn't seem worth it to me.
I'd avoid aluminum rollers. That's drag race/high maintenance stuff. Aluminum rockers are not meant to run 10s of thousands of miles. If you want the best, go with Crower stainless steel pieces(have a set waiting to go on my Dakota). To really do it right, consider getting the high RPM kit that comes with guide plates and longer pushrods. If the motor is intended to really run upstairs, you should take it a step further and consider upgrading the valve springs to a better double spring. A major pain to do without removing the heads, but worth it from what I'm told by those who have done it.Good luck.
