That's how I changed the first set on the "D".....

I realize that the Dak is a bit different, but it can't be too far off since they use the same length shocks.... I just removed the spare on the "D" and had plenty of room with the weight on the suspension(this, even before the lift). If you don't have the weight on the rear axle, it will be drooping and you'll have to muscle the shocks out even farther to get them mounted. The front is another game entirely. I've found it much easier to get the frame up on jack stands and let the front wheel droop to allow enough room to maneuver the shock in between the A-Frame members. Make sure you torque the lower front eye bolts correctly! I've busted three of the lower bolts so far because they've worked loose and the shock flexes the bolt up and down causing it to eventually snap. A little dab of thread lock will go a long way toward saving you having to deal with a broken bolt and the resulting squarshed shock later on.
