Re^2: Tire pressure for R/T's ..

For what it is worth, 30 psi in the front and rear will cause your RT to feel ill-handling. Even though it is a 60 series tire there is considerable sidewall deflection at these lower pressures. I have found that 40-42 psi settles the truck down on rough pavement, increases gas mileage and increases the vehicles handling limits. Its also allot easier to push (don't ask). What 30 PSI will do is soften the jarring and augment a smoother (floaty) ride. Remember Ford said to air Explorer tires to 26 PSI, Firestone said this adequate with for an Explorer with 1/2 tank of gas and a 180 lb driver. The Durango is significantly heavier than the Explorer, those 17's have much more rolling resistance than an Explorer's 15s.
